The unit is a charity and relies on donations and sponsorship to be able to offer a dedicated and professional Search and Rescue service, 365 days a year in all weathers. All of our members are volunteers who give up their time and energy to help provide this vital public service.
Our fundraising team are happy to answer your questions and queries. They can be contacted here.
There are several ways in which you can help us continue our work :
Give us your time
As well as our active search personnel, we also have a number of non-operational
members who help us with fundraising and maintenance tasks. If you
have any relevant skills that you think we may be able to use or the
energy to help us meet our fundraising targets then please contact
us.
Financial donations
We need help meeting our ongoing running costs such as vehicle insurance and road tax, equipment maintenance and investment in new technologies. If you or your employer would like to contribute to our funds then we would be very interested in hearing from you!
Equipment donations
We gratefully receive equipment donations or discounts from suppliers. In return we are able to offer product feedback and recommendations to the Search and Rescue community. If you would like to help us, or know of a company that may be able to assist then please get in touch.
Event support
If you are organising something that needs 'people
on the ground' to ensure that it runs smoothly; for instance
a sponsored walk or sporting event then SusSAR are ideally placed
to help you. We can provide vehicle back up and come equipped with
our own independent communications.

Other ways you can support us
We also raise funds from collections at shops, attending community
events, giving talks and presentations and many other things besides.
Please let us know if you are able to help us in any way.
